KFC-style Chicken Tenders

Hey friends!

If you have teenagers or pre-teens at home, you’ll totally understand me… I’m often under pressure at home for junk food. Let me explain: my teens want to eat burgers and kebabs way too often, coming from fast-food chains that I won’t name. Dilemma for me!! So, I found the solution: I offer them the same thing, but homemade!

Here are my homemade KFC-style chicken tenders (or rather, Casserole & Chocolat-style tenders!!).

I’ll be completely honest with you here: yes, I do sometimes take the kids to McDonald’s or “BK”. I stay flexible on that… But in moderation. And, let me be clear, I’m not judging anyone about this. Everyone does what they want. We can’t serve a gourmet meal every single day! We do our best, but still!! 😉

That being said, with my homemade KFC-style chicken tenders, you’ll see that the recipe is super easy and quick to make, and most importantly, your kids will love it!! And that’s kind of the goal, right? I loved it too…

You only need 4 ingredients to make this recipe: chicken fillets (obviously!), flour, eggs, and unsweetened cornflakes. Nothing complicated! You can also use breadcrumbs if you don’t have cornflakes. My opinion: cornflakes give a crunchier texture than breadcrumbs. I love it!

For cooking, you have three options. The classic: deep-frying, just like KFC. The healthiest: baking them in the oven on a parchment-lined tray. The middle ground: pan-frying them with a little oil (because, let’s be honest, we love some fat, right?), but not too much!

This is the cooking method I chose, and it was great! Delicious, crispy, just as I wanted. I haven’t tested the other two options yet. Feel free to let me know in the comments what you did.

And for the side dish, you ask? Well, I simply went with my smashed potatoes. Sticking with the American food theme—comforting, easy-to-make cuisine. Of course, vegetables or a good mixed salad would be perfect too… (Check out my salad suggestions!)

Essential utensils:

– A cutting board,
– A good paring knife,
– A mixing bowl,
– 3 shallow plates,
– And a frying pan.

That’s it, nothing complicated. So, are you tempted? Ready to put on your apron and make my homemade KFC-style chicken tenders?

The recipe, Chef!
